誤譯：Toyota has recently returned more than 8 million problematic cars。
正譯：Toyota has recently recalled more than 8 million problematic cars。
辨析：to return 的意思是to give back，在這里指制造商將汽車歸還消費(fèi)者，是錯(cuò)誤翻譯。to recall的意思是to take back，指制造商從消費(fèi)者那里收回汽車，這才是正確翻譯。
“召回”的第一個(gè)意思是“上級(jí)調(diào)回或叫回派出的人員”。英語(yǔ)可以譯為to recall，即to order sb to return。
例1.這名年輕官員被上級(jí)召回北京。The young official was recalled to Beijing by his superior。
例2.兩國(guó)分別召回各自的大使。The two countries respectively recalled their ambassadors home。
